Swine flu out of control
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a "state of emergency" Tuesday due to the the swine flu that has thus far killed a reported 149 people in Mexico.
The World Health Organization's (WHO) Emergency Committee met yesterday morning to discuss the worldwide swine flu epidemic. Reports from various countries indicate the flu is much more wide spread than initially thought. The death toll and cases continue to rise globally. In an update yesterday, WHO said, "The current situation regarding the outbreak of swine influenza A(H1N1) is evolving rapidly. As of 27 April 2009, the United States Government has reported 40 laboratory confirmed human cases of swine influenza A(H1N1)." Deaths in Mexico have now surpassed 150.
