Meghan Markle has been submitted for Emmy consideration for 'Suits'

For Meghan, Thursday's royal "away-day" will be her first full working day as a member of the royal family and an HRH.

This is the first time that Meghan has made a royal public appearance without her husband, Prince Harry, by her side and so all eyes were on the Duchess of Sussex.

The Queen and duchess were greeted by hundreds of cheering schoolchildren as they stepped off the royal train at Runcorn station.

The Queen smiled as she and Markle appeared to have a lively, upbeat conversation with each other.

The Queen and the duchess were set to visit Storyhouse, Chester, then walk to Chester Town Hall to have lunch as guests of Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The pair have been out in Cheshire for their first joint Royal engagement today, but it was long before royal protocol was broken.

Their tour will include a stop in Sydney in late October for the 2018 Invictus Games, the paralympic-style sporting event Harry founded for servicemen and women.

Neither Kensington Palace nor Closer's lawyers, who are seeking a reduction in damages rather than an overturn of the 2017 verdict, have commented on the matter.
