With Screen Time in iOS 12, sophisticated features herald an era of more "quantified usage" of your iPhone. The only catch is that all of the relevant transactions must be performed from the desktop PC; and not from within the iOS app.

The final version of iOS 12 lands this fall alongside new iPhones and a new iPad Pro.

"You get a summary of the time you're spending in apps, how many times in an hour that you're picking up your phone, and what apps are sending you the most notifications", explained Craig Federighi, Apple SVP of Software Engineering. At the end of each week, Screen Time will provide a summary of your usage.

CNET reports the new tools on iOS 12 can be synced across devices, and also allow parents to set limits for kids to help them better manage their children's screen time. Users can now also put time limits on the certain app after which they will be notified if they use that particular app for more duration. You'll then receive a reminder to stop using the app.

This brings us to some of the control functions which will be available for users.

While a lot of interesting factors were discussed in detail, such as Memojis and Siri's new capabilities, others were left up to the user to discover once they interact with the device.

This is another biggie.

It is only by the September of this year that the iOS style upgrade will be released for new iPhones. This little change would go a long way in improving the overall experience of using the notification center in the upcoming version of the mobile OS.
