Battlefield V Release Date, Trailer, Gameplay, Modes, Open Beta, and Editions Revealed

The highly anticipated video game, Battlefield V, has been announced and is planned for release on Microsoft's family of Xbox One consoles on October 19 this year.

The company explains that Battlefield 5 will be set in the lesser known regions during the second World War, including Rotterdam.

However, fans that order the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition will get access three days early on October 16, while EA Access and Origin Access members will be able to jump into the Play First Trial on October 11.

Co-op is also returning in Battlefield 5 under the name Combined Arms.

The long-standing rival to Activision's Call of Duty series will also feature a new live service called Tides of War, which will be based around live events taking place in the game for limited periods, offering unique rewards to users who complete the multi-map, multi-mode battles. The developers have declared that players will have no way to get an unfair advantage in Battlefield V by paying more and there won't even be a series-standard DLC. These multimap, multi-mode dynamic events take players through vast historical battles to relive moments of bravery and desperation while fighting to the final objective.

DICE has officially unveiled and shown off gameplay from Battlefield V, with more details coming out as the hours go past today. But as nostalgic as we are about World War 2, we wanted to challenge the preconception of the era with an unexpected portrayal of this familiar setting. Put a similar concept inside the right context, like World War I or World War II, and you have a game that I really want to play. The first chapter of Tides of War starts in November and will focus on the fall of Europe.

Like previous Battlefield games, the newest will add DLCs periodically, but one of the biggest changes is that EA Games will do away with Premium Passes - so that means that once you buy the original game, that's it, no more additional purchases to get all the new content.
