Cordray, Kucinich Spar Over Health Care in Ohio Governor's Race

Democratic women had a big night.

Four-term Republican state Rep. Robert Sprague, of Findlay, won the GOP primary for state treasurer over former Ashtabula County Auditor Sandra O'Brien.

Republican Attorney General Mike DeWine is the projected victor in Ohio's GOP gubernatorial primary, and will face a rematch in the fall with Democrat primary victor and former Attorney General Richard Cordray - who DeWine unseated in 2010.

Two veteran OH congressmen have won three-way Republican primaries. Republican candidates Attorney General DeWine and Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor spent most of the race fighting over who could be the most conservative. Joe Schiavoni has 63 percent in the Democratic gubernatorial primary. President Trump won the state by nine points in 2016.

Voting was steady Tuesday with no long lines reported by late morning.

The same occurred for the democratic nomination for the representative to congress from the 15th district. McCready, handily defeated 2016 party nominee Christian Cano in Tuesday's Democratic primary. Manchin will fend off a primary challenge and is awaiting the victor of the Republican primary, CNN projects.

However, there is a 21-day shelf life for romaine, so there is a possibility there might still be lettuce in the supply chain. Last week, the agency reported that the outbreak had claimed its first life, killing one person in California.

It made for one of Ohio's most expensive, nasty and unpredictable primary seasons in recent memory. Once a solidly Republican seat in a district Mr. Trump carried easily, the race is now a tossup, according to nonpartisan analysts, thanks to an energized Democratic base.

A lot of the winning Democrats in the region looked like McCready, who, in turn, looked a lot like Rep. Conor Lamb - the young Democrat who managed a big upset in a special election in a red district in Pennsylvania in March. Two other Democrats in the race garnered a little over one percent of the vote.

On health care, he said Kucinich "has a supposed plan but has never said how he would pay for it or how it would work". Issue 1 would amend Ohio's constitution to change the way congressional districts are drawn.

Both are seats D.C. Democrats are invested in and view as highly competitive, potential pick-ups in November.

Mr. Donnelly is matched against Mike Braun, a wealthy businessman who ran as a political outsider, and who Republicans believe will serve as validation of Mr. Trump's policies and anti-Washington appeal.

But Ohio Democratic Party Chairman David Pepper pointed out that Mr. DeWine had the advantages of the state GOP's endorsement and money while the ODP did not endorse or spend money on behalf of a particular candidate.
