The Red Sox and Yankees will take their bad blood across the pond in 2019.

The MLB has previously staged games outside the Mexico, Japan, Puerto Rico and at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Australia, which hosted a match in March 2014.

Major League Baseball and the London mayor's office have agreed to a two-year deal that will include another series in London in 2020, with participating teams to be announced.

The announcement of MLB's arrival in London comes in the wake of discussions between Rob Manfred, the sport's commissioner, and the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and follows the successful introduction of other United States sports into the capital.

"Really pleased that we've secured MLB games in London for 2019 & 2020 - the first city to host a Major League Baseball game in Europe", London's mayor Sadiq Khan said in a tweet.

"Some of the most talented and dynamic players in the world will be playing in these games", he said at a news conference in London.

Caps end Penguins' hex, win series in OT
The Washington Capitals will have to try and knock the Pittsburgh Penguins out of the playoffs without center Nicklas Backstrom . Nathan Walker got the primary assist in his first National Hockey League playoff game on a quick pass from behind the goal.

But the London Series 2019 marks the advent of Major League Baseball regular season games in Europe. The Yankees opened the 2004 season with a two-game series against the Rays and the Red Sox opened the 2008 season with two games against the Oakland Athletics. "I can't wait to hear someone shout "play ball" at London Stadium", he added. "We are bringing you one of the best rivalries in baseball".

It will be the first time a Sox-Yankees game will be played somewhere other than Boston or NY.

The Red Sox and Yankees rivalry is legendary, with both teams having played in the American League for more than a century.

The NFL has played regular-season games in London since 2007, holding 18 games at Wembley and three at Twickenham.

"London Stadium has a track record of successfully delivering major global events, moving from Premier League Football and both worldwide and domestic showpiece rugby fixtures to hosting some of the biggest names in music".
