Many Americans are celebrating Cinco de Mayo today.

The statement also recounted the Battle of Puebla, the 1862 confrontation between the Mexican Army and the French Empire that Cinco De Mayo memorializes.

Applebees is offering $1 margaritas and $2 draft "Dos Equis".

To get the results, the Cable TV analyst team developed a list of every Cinco de Mayo-related search query and cross-referenced the list with national Google Trends data from May 5, 2017 to discover exactly what people in each state are most interested in.

"Cinco de Mayo" ranks ahead of "Valentine's Days", "New Year's Eve" and "St. Patrick's Day" for restaurant revenue, according to CBS News.

Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and most recently Barack Obama are all Nobel winners. The Nobel Committee has said 330 candidates have been submitted this year, 216 of which are individuals.

Despite the holiday's popularity in the United States, many don't know what they're actually celebrating.

While it's not a major holiday in Mexico, in the U.S.it's evolved into a festive celebration of Mexican culture.

"The reason it became more popular (in the US during that time) was in part because of the Good Neighbor policy", Jose Alamillo, a professor of ethnic studies at Washington State University in Pullman, told National Geographic, referring to the USA government's effort to reach out to neighboring countries.

Despite the misconceptions, 70 percent of Americans said they plan to celebrate.
