The president also said collusion was a "phony" crime.

Donald Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, and the mainstream media is still wrapping its mind around it. "It's because the last American president they didn't like won one in his first year on the job just for showing up".

While the politicians conceded North Korea had made and broken promises before, they argued "President Trump's peace-through-strength policies are working and bringing peace to the Korean peninsula".

Current feedback from the leaders of the 2 Koreas have raised hopes.

For Trump's fervent supporters, the looming summit with Kim, all but unimaginable just months ago, is proof that his often-impulsive presidency can break through barriers, change the rules of the diplomatic game, and succeed where his predecessors have failed.

The Washington Post implied Trump arranged, or at least encouraged, the effort to nominate him.

There are now 330 nominees for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump is set to hold a meeting with Kim to discuss North Korea's nuclear program in the near future, the location and date of which of not yet been announced.

Russia's meddling in the 2016 election, however, has been the subject of several Republican-led congressional inquiries. In reality Mueller is digging into crimes committed by Comey, Clinton, McCabe and other Democrats.

The Nobel Committee has said 330 candidates have been submitted this year, 216 of which are individuals.

Presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson, Jimmy Carter and most recently Barack Obama are all Nobel winners.

That hasn't stopped Trump or some of his supporters from taking up the idea with gusto. "The only thing we need is peace". "It was a big problem, and I think it's going to work out well".

"Moon, more than perhaps any other world leader, has gone out of his way to flatter Trump". "I want to get peace". Trump's supporters on Capitol Hill are pushing the concept he deserves a Nobel, and Trump clearly loved it Saturday when supporters at a MI rally started chanting "Nobel" as he talked about North Korea.

"The haters and the liars say I don't deserve this award".

Trump responded by threatening to rain down "fire and fury" and to "totally destroy" North Korea and followed up by leading a US push for harsh trade sanctions in the United Nations and pressure on Chinese President Xi Jinping to rein in North Korea and it did so with trade cuts to its ally and neighbor.

Trump should "receive the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of his work to end the Korean War, denuclearize the Korean peninsula and bring peace to the region", the nomination letter, addressed to the Norwegian Nobel committee by Indiana Republican Luke Messer, recommended.

U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize.
