Windows 10 users should brace themselves from Monday, 30 April as Microsoft starts nagging them to update their computers.

Failing that you can manually download the latest version of Windows 10 direct from Microsoft and upgrade from that.

With this release comes in an improved and redesigned XBOX Game Bar that allows you to set a light or dark them and has changes to the UI. The most obvious manifestation of that is the new Timeline feature, which is the highlight of the release. The Update Status section will show if your system is ready to be upgraded. Customers will see their activities grouped in hour-long chunks each day, so they can more easily find the emails or files they may have sent during those time periods.

Microsoft's next major update for Windows 10 has arrived; bringing with it an interesting new feature in the form of something called Timeline.

Focus Assist is another feature Microsoft is keen to talk-up, and the firm claims it'll help to eliminate of web-based distractions that get in the way of productivity. This feature has a lot of promise, but I haven't actually found it all that useful yet, mainly because most developers have yet to support it.

Still not convinced it has already lost the browser wars to Google and Firefox, Redmond continues to keep pushing cool new updates into the Edge browser, which nobody uses. First, Office 365 users can add 3D animations into their PowerPoint presentations.

In Woodman's view, Timeline is a good example for where Windows is going, though.

British toddler whose parents fought to maintain life support dies
The death came after an easing of tensions between the family and the hospital. "It's not a miracle; it's a misdiagnosis". Doctors had already removed life support on Monday after the parents lost a previous appeal to keep him alive.

Like the Do not disturb mode found on most Android smartphones, Focus Assist will basically let you focus on the task that you are working on and will turn off all sorts of notifications, coming from a variety of apps or contacts (both native and third-party).

The prefered way is actually to just wait for it to pop-up in the notification center. It is always advisable to ensure you have your data backed up in an external drive or the cloud before major OS updates.

There's also a new Dictation mode for those who would rather talk to their PC than type. If you need the Windows symbols, connect to the Microsoft Symbol Server to cache your symbols locally or use a manifest file with SymChk.exe on a computer with internet access. Dictation will work in any text field. Just as it was the case with 1709 fall update, Microsoft is releasing the update in waves.

Oh, and you can now finally mute noisy tabs, too! This means that the update won't be available for all the Windows 10 users at the same time.

"With Windows 10, we've focused on delivering the most modern and most secure operating system". To do this, you can head to Settings, Update and Security, Windows Insider Program, and click on "Get Started".

Please be aware that this method is the best way to receive the Windows 10 April 2018 Update.
