Messi hat-trick helps Barca seal Spanish League title

Messi scored a hat-trick on the night to celebrate the 25th La Liga title and the seventh in the last 10 seasons.

Messi's hat-trick at Deportivo La Coruna gave Barcelona a 4-2 victory and an unassailable 11-point lead over second-placed Atletico Madrid.

Coach Ernesto Valverde's men completed a league and cup double after thrashing Sevilla 5-0 in last week's Copa del Rey final, regaining the Spanish crown from Real Madrid and relegating Deportivo in the process.

They are only four games from an unbeaten La Liga season.

Midfielder Andres Iniesta, who will bring the curtain down on his storied Barcelona career at the end of the season, has now lifted nine La Liga titles with the Catalan side and said they thoroughly deserved this one.

"It's an embarrassment, the players have to show our faces, we all make mistakes", Alba said of the Champions League exit.
