So going into the opening-round series between the No. 3 Blazers and the No. 6 Pelicans, everyone was expecting a close matchup, with the Blazers considered the slight overall favorites. All 22 of ESPN's National Basketball Association analysts and a myriad of others picked Portland to advance past New Orleans' collection of postseason neophytes. Holiday capped his 41-point night with an 18-footer that gave the Pelicans a six-point lead with 40 seconds left. The other seven series are still going. The person says Gentry was informed of the decision before the Pelicans swept their first-round playoff series against third-seeded Portland.

Question is, could this team beat the Golden State Warriors in the second round? It's critical for the Pelicans to stay completely healthy heading into their next playoff series, nearly certainly against the defending champion Golden State Warriors.

And that's a role the Pelicans relish.

For his part Davis said he was trying to build a legacy in New Orleans, and he said he would so glad to see the crowd into it. "They've done that and the Portland guards have not responded".

The words aren't empty. That's not a strong suit of this iteration of the Pelicans, who were 24th in the league in offensive rebound percentage for the regular season after the Cousins injury. So perhaps they were so sure they couldn't be swept by the Pelicans that they just figured, one way or another, that they'd extend the series to a Game 5 in Portland? However, the clip also attracted the attention of police, and Meechan was arrested and charged with committing a hate crime. He said: "Honestly, I don't hate anyone, the whole goal of this was just to annoy my girlfriend".

"It's been such an unbelievable battle with everything we've been through this season", Holiday said. We had a great group. "We didn't play well enough to get it done". We stuck together for the entire season. And what [the Pelicans] have really taken away from them is the pace of the game and they've made them uncomfortable in the pace. As of Saturday morning, 65 percent of public bets are being placed on host New Orleans.

The Pelicans center had just converted a layup as he fell to the court after a hard foul.

Their failure to even win one game could see big changes from the franchise this summer and it could well start with a coaching change. One popular strategy is for the team to split up stars CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard, although the latter doesn't think it's necessary. It's a position the Pelicans have gotten used to. "I couldn't be happier for a guy on my team". Marc Stein of the New York Times tweeted that Blazers head coach, Terry Stotts, could be on the hot seat after the team lost its 10th playoff game in a row. The Blazers never came close to finding an effective strategy to stop him: Davis was simply too long, too quick, too versatile and too relentless.

The other players for the Blazers have not done much either, while C.J.
