Evan Rachel Wood's Dolores Abernathy is one of the main characters of "Westworld" and perhaps the most identifiable figure of popular HBO TV show. "I was like, 'I have never been paid the same as my male counterparts ..."

Newton and Wood play two of the robotic hosts in Westworld's immersive Western theme park, Maeve and Dolores, and both characters are pivotal to the show's narrative and its exploration of the themes of identity and consciousness, so it's hard to imagine the show without them.

"I'm always fighting for [equal pay]", Wood added, laughing. Wood admitted. "I turned it down..." She guest starred across multiple seasons as Queen Sophie-Anne in True Blood, and starred opposite Kate Winslet in the miniseries Mildred Pierce. "We're getting better about it but the misconception that if it's female-driven, you're gonna alienate people". "It's more about if you're getting paid fairly, or the same, or if you're getting paid less simply because you're a woman, that's not fair", she said.

"Part of what's been just lovely to watch as a producer on this too is how the nudity isn't only female on the show, there is also male nudity and it's amusing because we talk about these things in a gendered way because often it is only women who get naked and only women who are vulnerable, but it's very vulnerable for men to be in as well". I have not moved.

She shared: "There's me working consistently since I was three or five years old, and I work hard, and yet they weren't going to give me top billing because I wasn't a man". New Doctor Who star Jodie Whittaker is being paid the same as her predecessor, Peter Capaldi, and actors including Octavia Spencer, Jessica Chastain, Charlize Theron, and Kerry Washington have spoken out about pay inequality.
