James Comey: Donald Trump "Not Normal" In Disregard For Rule Of Law

Meanwhile, Trump's reax to the FBI's raid on the office, home and hotel room of his personal attorney Michael Cohen - an "attack on our country", he tweeted - is equally disturbing and unsafe, Comey told Stephanopoulos. "But the reason I say "possible" is that there's a non-zero possibility that the Russians have some sway over him that is rooted in his personal experience".

For all of his skewering assessments of Trump, Comey doesn't think that the solution is impeachment-because he believes that it's important for the American electorate to correct this abhorrent mistake themselves.

Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch is defending her actions in the Hillary Clinton email investigation following criticism from Comey.

But I don't think it's going to have the kind of effect Comey perhaps imagined it would.

The White House said Trump watched "bits and pieces" of the Comey interview, but not all of it. He also suggested Comey should be imprisoned, tweeting, "how come he gave up Classified Information (jail), why did he lie to Congress (jail)".

The ABC News producers cutting the Comey special may have been exercising muscles they hadn't used in many years, as the network had to edit down a reported five-hour interview between Comey and Stephanopoulos into a one-hour special.

"I think it's possible".

While Comey shared his fear of the damage he says Trump is inflicting on the national consciousness, he expressed optimism that it's not permanent. I don't know this is the time and place for Jim Comey to be making these statements.

Outrage after two black men arrested in a Starbucks - for doing nothing
Among their demands are that the Starbucks employee who called police be fired, along with the officers who made the arrests. The video went viral, with almost 8 million views, on Twitter over the weekend and immediately sparked national outrage.

And as has become customary in the case of any high-profile slight against the president, Trump immediately took to Twitter, using his 280 characters to call Comey a "slimeball", "slippery, ' and "the worst FBI Director in history".

And last week federal agents in NY raided the office and hotel room of Trump's longtime personal lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen, possibly in connection with secret hush payments he made to women claiming they had affairs with Trump. "I just thought it was a weird enough experience for me to be talking to the incoming president of the United States about prostitutes in a hotel in Moscow. Is Donald Trump unfit to be president?"

Comey also responded to critics who questioned why he included negative personal descriptions about the size of the president's hands, his elaborate hairstyle and the length of his tie. "I suspect his apparent inability to do so is roouted in deep insecurity, his inability to be vulnerable or to risk himself by appreciating the humor of others, which, on reflection, is really very sad in a leader, and a little scary in a president". "I'm trying to be an author, which I've never been before in my life".

Comey re-openened the Hillary Clinton email investigation just days before the election, which many believe cost her the White House.

As he has in the past, Comey offered a vigorous defence of his handling of the Clinton email investigation.

Another passage questions Trump's morality, claiming, "this president is unethical and untethered to truth and institutional values".

-- President Trump began a week-long trip to Florida on Monday by extolling his recently enacted tax cuts and once again excoriating former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey on the eve of his explosive new book's publication.

Write to us in the Comments Section or on our Facebook page. It was recorded last Monday at Comey's home in suburban Washington.
