Dallas Cowboys Release Dez Bryant

But those rumors gained more traction Friday afternoon after the Cowboys' released veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant.

The three-time 1,000-yard pass catcher would later post: "The take from today".

And Bryant used Twitter to make it clear that he will be trying. That's not really why signing Bryant doesn't feel right after he was released on Friday morning by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

Bryant was due $12.5 million in 2018 and has a $16.5 million cap hit each of the next two seasons.

On March 3, Jerry Jones said at the NFL Combine, "You have asked me as I sit here do you want [Dez Bryant] on the team next year and my answer is yes".

We arrived at this crossroad collectively with input from several voices within the organization.

Bryant, 29, also tweeted: "Key words in this statement". But also, what you have to put into the equation with this team (is what they've already invested).

Kevin Durant to Become Free Agent And Sign New Deal with Warriors
The Warriors and Durant agreed last summer to a two-year, $51-million deal with the player owning the opt-out option. Durant would make $26.3 million if he opted in, and Haynes noted that figure was low "for a player of his caliber".

Bryant and Jones had a unique relationship because of the trouble that surrounded the receiver early in his career. From the moment the Cowboys drafted him out of Oklahoma State in 2010, he was fascinating, thrilling and maddening to watch. Dallas traded up three spots to get him.

In eight seasons with the Cowboys, Bryant washad 531 receptions for f7,459 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns. For Bryant, he'd get good money at a time when it's not actively flowing and more than the Cowboys paid for Hurns, his replacement. He said some of the frustration was rooted in the offensive scheme. "He will always be a valued member of our family", Jones said. Tight end Jason Witten has 68 career touchdown catches.

Now, if he is willing to come to Philadelphia, which has plenty of roster ingredients to make a strong push to defend the Super Bowl title they won in February, for the veteran minimum salary with some incentives, then, by all means, take a chance on him and hope that Bryant will toe the line in a cohesive Eagles locker room that was a big part of the team's success previous year.

They added a free agent receiver who played last season for Buffalo and Chicago; I didn't look up his name because, why bother?

The area of the field where Bryant can have a significant impact is shrinking. Romo was released last offseason and retired. "I will always love y'all. forever Dallas in my heart", Bryant tweeted after the meeting. His first comments were that he was "unbothered" and a message of love for the Cowboys fans who supported him.

Other options are Deonte Thompson and Ryan Switzer, but neither of those guys are proven on the National Football League level and will only see consistent player time if there's an injury.

Mickey Spagnola, who works for the Cowboys' team website, ignited speculation that Bryant could be eying a contract with either the New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles or Washington Redskins.
