It wasn't until she was fingerprinted that law enforcement learned she was Roena Mills, of Rural Retreat, Virginia.

A Mercer County judge said further assessment is needed in order to evaluate the mental competency of Mills.

According to court documents, the murder happened on April 1, 2018, in Lerona, Mercer County.

According to a criminal complaint, Mills had been in the woods, was covered in blood and had a pocket knife in her trousers when she arrived at another residence.

The complaint said Mills gave a sheriff's deputy a false identify and claimed she had been thrown through a glass door but wouldn't disclose her attacker.

Roena Chery Mills, from West Virginia, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, 29-year-old Bo Allen White.

During the ride, Mills kicked the vehicle's security partition multiple times, and also told the deputies, "you have to take me back and let me get my heads", the criminal complaint says.

At about 4:30 p.m. the same day, authorities began investigating the murder of Bo White, who was found decapitated in his home, according to court documents.

Either way, deputies told Mills, she couldn't stay at the house.

Mercer County Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler told The Bluefield Daily Telegraph that it was unclear whether the victim was killed by the beheading or if he died before his head was severed.

She appeared inebriated, was staring off into the distance, and kept conversing with someone she called "daddy", the deputies said.

Mills is now being held in he Southern Regional Jail in Raleigh County pending cash-only bail of $210,000.

The case now heads to the grand jury in June.
