No timetable set for Kawhi Leonard (quad) to return to Spurs

Spurs All-NBA forward Kawhi Leonard returned to NY last Monday to continue rehabbing his lingering quad injury, coach Gregg Popovich told reporters before Sunday afternoon's home game against Houston.

"He's trying to get well", Popovich said. He spent an extended period in NY prior to the February All-Star break.

Leonard left San Antonio and his teammates in the aftermath of increasing tension levels surrounding his disconnect with the team and several near-returns that resulted in Leonard backing off and staying on the sidelines. Leonard has been in the care of his own medical team since then, and no timetable has been set for his return.

Leonard has worked out at the NBA Players Association facility in Manhattan during both of his stays in NY.

Leonard missed the first 27 games of the season with the quad injury, returned for nine games, and was then listed as out indefinitely to further rehab his injury.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, however, may not have to worry about it; a brewery has taken care of the arrangement. On the day, armed officers will mingle with the crowds while snipers will be deployed on rooftops.

Before taking down the Houston Rockets without Leonard on Sunday, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich addressed the topic in front of reporters yet again.

"There were 6,000 people there, but I knew he was (referring to) me, and I started crying and said 'God, forgive me, I need a new life.'" Zambrano said he feels fulfilled and hopes to continue preaching the word. "If I knew, he'd be here". He returned for a nine-game stretch in December and January, averaging 16.2 points and 4.7 rebounds. With only six games left in their regular season campaign, the Spurs are nearly sure of a spot in this year's playoffs with only the seeding waiting to be decided. Of course, that's the goal, to get well.

"Sometimes you feel like an alien to the core group and you've got to fight through it", Ginobili said.

The Spurs are now the 4th seed in the Western Conference, but could land anywhere from the 5th to the 8th seed by the time the NBA's regular season is officially in the books.

Added up, the playoffs are about to commence and San Antonio has no clue whether it will have the services of the two-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Wojnarowski reported that Leonard planned to play in San Antonio's game on March 15, but that plan was aborted.
