Winona Ryder gets substantial pay rise for Stranger Things season three

In addition to the cast's hefty new paychecks, Deadline reported that Netflix has also signed several new licensing deals for "Stranger Things"-themed merchandise". A new report suggests that the streaming giant is giving major pay raises following a renegotiation ahead of the sci-fi show's highly-anticipated third season.

Winona Ryder is reportedly set to earn $350,000 (£249,360) per Stranger Things episode after getting a massive pay rise for season three.

As per THR report, the child stars including Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), and Noah Schnapp (Will) were making approximately $30,000 an episode for its first two seasons. Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan) and Joe Keery (Steve) will pull in "roughly $150,000".

But as she's been such a hit, it's believed she'll actually be earning closer to Oscar-nominated Ryder's salary, somewhere between $250,000 (£178,600)-$350,000 (£250,040).

When asked by the Hollywood Reporter, Netflix declined to comment on the stars' salaries.

Maya Hawke, daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, will join the cast as a colead, while Priah Ferguson will get a bigger role as a series regular.

Though this is good news for the actors on the fan-favorite Netflix series, Stranger Things has recently been on the receiving end of some controversy.

What you may have already noticed is the lack of detail on breakout actress Millie Bobby Brown, who portrays Eleven/Jane Hopper in the series, and the amount of money she'll earn come season three.

Official plot details are still under wraps, however, the eight-episode third season will likely feature another time jump when the adventure continues, picking up with its young characters attending high school.
