Ten dead after plane crash in the Philippines

Police Superintendent Julio Lizardoll confirmed that all five Filipino nationals on board the six-seat plane were killed, and that the five people dead on the ground were all members of the same family.

Ten people were killed when a small plane crashed into a house north of Manila on Saturday, police and aviation officials said.

The crash ignited a fire that led to two other people, identified as Virginia Marquez and her grandchild Santino Yuri, being injured by burning debris.

It was carrying five people, including the pilot, and was en route to Laoag in northwestern Luzon.

"All seven victims died on the spot", Bulalacao said.

CAAP has yet to give any official confirmation on the passengers and plane crewmembers as of posting.

The plane is a Piper PA-23 Apache 6-seater twin-engined light aircraft with registry number RP-C299.

The plane hit the house of an 80-year-old woman, who was inside at the time.

"CAAP's accident investigators and a team from the Flight Safety and Inspectorate Service were immediately dispatched to the crash site", Apolonio said in a text message.

All aircraft operated by Lite Air Express are grounded pending results of investigations, Apolonio added.
