American Idol Kid Is Pissed Katy Perry Kissed Him

Luke Bryan probably deserves a small share of the blame for telling the hopelessly dated "I Kissed a Girl" joke that set up this train wreck.

19-year-old "American Idol" contestant Benjamin Glaze was tricked into kissing judge Katy Perry on the lips - his first kiss ever - during the season premiere of the retooled show.

The public backlash came after Glaze spoke to the New York Times about the incident. Richie and Bryan fan her like a queen, while she tells Glaze to not rush his songs so much, but admits, "Maybe that's because I sped up your BPM of the heartbeat".

"I wanted to save it for my first relationship".

In the clip, Perry calls out to Glaze to "come here" after learning of his never-been-kissed status, and Glaze appears shocked, but walks up to the judges table to face Perry.

The New York Times wants you to know this kiss was NOT OKAY, and ran a story about the awkward onscreen encounter with the headline: "An Unwanted Kiss On American Idol". He had never been kissed before because he wanted the moment to be special and to save it for his first relationship.

When Glaze first entered the studio, shyly discussing his cashier job and using it to meet "cute girls", Perry playfully asked him about his love life.

Sessions Considering Firing FBI's McCabe Days Before Retirement, Jeopardizing His Pension
The Wall Street Journal report was written by Devlin Barrett, who is now a reporter with The Washington Post . The president remarked in December that McCabe was "racing the clock to retire with full benefits".

Obviously you have to respect this guy's morals, and you have to respect him having no problem revealing he wasn't all about Perry, but then's Katy Perry we're talking about...

In the end, Glaze isn't counting the on-screen smooch as his first kiss.

(For clarification, he also added that he didn't feel sexually harassed by Perry in the audition.) Glaze told the publication that he's not counting Perry's unwanted kiss as his first kiss anyway.

Glaze did not say specifically which media outlets failed to represent him in the way he wanted to be represented and he did not specify if he felt he was misquoted. "Yeah. I got him", she replies.

"It was lip contact vs. a romantic situation with someone you care about", he said. "They agreed with me that it didn't really count", he explained.

"Perry is yet to comment on the controversy, except to tweet a short clip of cartoon character Minnie Mouse enthusiastically kissing Mickey Mouse with the hashtag, "#BenjaminGlaze". Rest assured, if a teenaged girl had been coerced into kissing a 30-year-old man on national TV, we'd already be reading his nonapology apology and demanding his resignation.
