The boys of The Big Bang Theory have come a long way.

The founder of Microsoft and billionaire-philanthropist is all set to play a cameo as himself in an upcoming episode of CBS' comedy series in March. He pops up when he visits the pharmaceutical company where Penny works, and of course the guys want to meet him.

This isn't the first time that a tech icon has guest-starred on TBBT.

He follows Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy and George Takei; Star Trek: The Next Generation's Wil Wheaton; Star Wars' Carrie Fisher and James Earl Jones; Apple's own Steve Wozniak; Tesla founder Elon Musk; physicist/cosmologist Stephen Hawking and comedian Bob Newhart to name a few.

The big rumour in the Sun on Monday morning was that Alan Pardew could be about to get the chop. Sources in Spain suggested this was down to the taxi driver deciding against pressing charges.

Bill Gates is a lot of things but he's not a professional actor.

Fans of The Big Bang Theory will have even more reason to be excited for the rest of Season 11, which is probably quite welcome at this point.

The Big Bang Theory returns with new episodes starting Thursday, March 1 at 8/7c on CBS. Gates isn't the first famous figure from tech or science to appear on the show. If streaming is more your style, our 2018 Netflix premiere schedule could give you all the dates you need.
