South Wales experienced a minor quake - but the Welsh were pretty underwhelmed

The BGS said events of this magnitude only occur in the United Kingdom every two to three years. The organisation said it was the biggest seismic event in the area since a 5.2 magnitude quake in 1906.

Britain has been struck by its biggest quake in ten years, the British Geological Survey has confirmed.

People across the country reported feeling the tremor, with some as far north as Blackpool wondering what it was, the Mirror reports. So far, no injuries have been reported.

The BGS said that about 3,000 events of this size take place every year. "The whole building just shook!??"

However, Saturday's quake in Wales was felt as far away as Carisbrooke Castle on the Isle of Wight, over 200 km away.

There were also reports in north Wales, with some claiming they felt the tremor in Broughton, Flintshire, and Llangollen, Denbighshire.

Dyfed Powys Police force said it had received "an extremely high volume" of calls relating to tremors.
