A native of Compton, California, Herrington appeared in the swimsuit edition previous year posing in her first professional shoot, according to SI.

Now, 11 years later, Herrington traveled to the Bahamas for her shoot and poses in a hot pink Ola Vida string bikini on the cover.

This month, the magazine launched its 2018 Swimsuit Edition in dedication to the #MeToo movement with a nude photoshoot featuring one of its most diverse line-ups yet. But the honor had special meaning for Herrington. Watch the emotional moment Danielle Herrington finds out she's our #SISwim 2018 cover model. The model quipped, "I noticed that when I was 15". It was love at first sight... everything happened naturally'.

Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Aly Raisman is among this year's models, and she picked an empowering message for women.

Apple Confirms HomePod Can Leave White Rings on Wood Surfaces

Just recently, Bouchard made headlines by going on a Super Bowl LII date with John Goehrke, the random Twitter guy who asked her out during Super Bowl LI. "That stuff reflects your attitude: the way you go into work; the way you go into your dating life", she said. All those things separately don't guarantee a cover, though.

While admitting it took her longer than others to realize her S.I. dream, Kostek said wouldn't a change a thing.

Numerous women submitted essays to accompany the In Her Own Words photo shoot. "This is my first cover ever and I am beyond speechless!" she added in another post of her cover. "Last year she showed up never expecting to be there; this year she showed up completely claiming her place and status as a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model". And it appears she's already gotten the stamp of approval from her idol because it was Banks who personally revealed her cover to the world. However, the California native says she has been modeling since she was 13. Bouchard and Sloane Stephens of the USA are the two players photographed for this year's mag.
