The update introduces a new family Play Time Management feature, the ability to upload custom wallpapers via USB, enhancements to notifications and the Quick Menu, and more. Gamers who are registered for the beta program will receive an email that tells them how to download the new software and get started with the update.

The new Play Time Management feature will let family managers and others set as guardians keep tabs on their child's playtime each day. Apart from setting this to check on their kid's playtime, the family manager/guardians can apply playtime restrictions to make sure that the child is only playing for a set amount of time or within set playable hours.

The system will send a notification to the child when playtime is coming to an end, giving them enough time to save progress.

Making this the third PS4 firmware in a row to tackle the notification menu, this update will allow you to delete old notifications, either individually or in bulk. To access this feature, go to Settings Family Management on your PS4.

Elsewhere, the Library UI is getting two new tabs, the first of which is This PS4, allowing you to have a gander at all the applications installed on your PS4.

The second tab, PS Plus, only lists games you've acquired through the monthly PlayStation Plus offerings. When listening to music on PS4, users can now access certain shortcuts from the Quick Menu. Designed for gaming, the headset was a affordable option, and came with a few PlayStation specific goodies via the Headset Companion app on PS4.

With Background Music on PS Now, you'll be able to listen to your favorite tracks while streaming a game on PS Now. Here's how Sony describes the situation on PS4 Pro: "Certain games already have the "supersampling" benefits as part of their "PS4 Pro Enhanced" feature set, but this new mode can enhance the experience for those games that don't already have the feature".

Upcoming Update Features PS4 Supersampling Mode

Most PS4 system updates usually consist of "stability updates".

From the dashboard go to Settings Themes Select Theme Custom Select Image USB Storage Device.

The next PlayStation 4 firmware update will make the PS4 Pro a lot more like the Xbox One X.

This includes the ability to import images via USB and then modify pictures to get the ideal look.

Finally, PS4 update 5.50 throws in Supersampling, which as previously reported allows users to enjoy select games with improved visuals even when played on a TV packing a resolution of 1080p or below.

"Please note performance will vary, as games are optimised differently to take advantage of the power of the PS4 Pro". This is the type of content most users will not return to, so it's nice to know they don't ever have to see them in their Library.

Part of the wrongdoing involved Russian lab workers tampering with samples to keep athletes from testing positive in Sochi. I feel like every time the Olympics rolls around we hear stories about all the condoms they need to stock Olympic village.
