Uttarakhand goverment has also not announced anything to stop the release from the film while fringe group workers met CM Trivendra Singh Rawat in Dehradun on Tuesday and demanded that the film not be allowed to be screened in the hill state. Now that the release date is confirmed, we can't wait to finally see the film.

Interestingly, Padmaavat clashes with Akshay Kumar's PadMan this January 25, which also stars Sonam Kapoor.

An FIR was lodged by two persons - and Nagpal Singh - with the police in Nagaur district in March past year, alleging that the film had distorted "historical facts" and "hurt the image of Rani Padmini".

Beating all odds and an elaborate row that clouded the release of one of the most-awaited films of 2017, Padmaavat, initially titled Padmavati is ready to take the theatres by a storm over the Republic Day weekend.

Why Gillian Anderson is leaving The X-Files
It's not as if Anderson has just been sitting around twiddling her thumbs with nothing to do when The X-Files wasn't on TV. Duchovny, 57, joked. "I'm feeling pretty pissed off, now that I remember".

"Padmaavat is a cinematic masterpiece in every sense of the word". This is the second time Padmaavat is attempting a release and with a different name but Shree Rajput Karni Sena is hell bent on making sure that film faces permanent ban in the entire country and never gets a release.

The Prasoon Joshi-led Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certified Padmavati a "U/A", after suggesting modifications that Bhansali and the film team accepted. We hope we will surpass the expectations of our fans from across the world. Padmaavat is a story that's inherently Indian in its context, ethos and values. After the development, the makers of the film reportedly chose to release it on January 25.

Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures said, "Padmaavat is our magnum opus - a tribute to Rajput valour created at a scale that will be a delight to watch on the large screen". Padmaavat is the first Hindi film which will be gracing IMAX 3D format with it's presence.

However, Justice Sandeep Mehta refused to pass an order on the petition before watching the film and asked Bora to arrange for a special screening for the court.
