The film also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker, Ciaran Hinds, Joely Richardson and Jeremy Irons. It's directed by Francis Lawrence, who previously directed Jennifer Lawrence in the last three Hunger Games movies, and also helmed the Will Smith sci-fi blockbuster I Am Legend. Lawrence portrays a former Russian ballerina forced into a Russian intelligence program in order to get her mother medical care.

The film is based on a 2013 novel of the same name by Jason Matthews, and revolves around a Russian woman (Lawrence) who is forced into the life of a "Sparrow", which essentially appears to be a secret agent/sleeper agent designed for exactly the kinds of missions you'd expect to involve a attractive young woman: Seducing generals, attending swanky soirees, occasional assassinations. After much torture and the "sadistic training process" of the Sparrow School, Dominika comes out the most risky Sparrow the school has ever produced.

Whether Red Sparrow can differentiate itself from its obvious fictional predecessors remains to be seen, especially since the project seems extremely indebted to Marvel's preexisting character (who was even trained in a "red room"!). "Red Sparrow" was produced by Peter Chernin, Steve Zaillian, and Jenno Topping, the film itself will hit theaters on March 2, 2018. See the poster below. And it's one of the things that drew me in, I'm very drawn to kind of stories about sort of isolated, lonely characters trying to survive.

Trudi and I are saddened and praying for the deputy's young family as they grieve the loss of their husband and father. Pierce County Sheriff's Department spokesman Ed Troyer identified the deputy as 34-year-old Daniel McCartney, of Yelm.

The Oscar victor plays a trained killer in this upcoming espionage thriller. Nash gives her the option to deflect from what she never wanted to be. "I'll find a way", she replies coolly.

In the above clip, Lawrence's heroine is compelled to become a Soviet spy to save her mother - a job that involves her having to repeatedly take off her clothes and use sex to deal with her targets.

"Red Sparrow was sexual, and I haven't done anything sexy or sexual".
