Others are Garba Attahiru, a former chairman of Kaduna South Local Government who passed on a year ago but was appointed on the board of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenegoa, and Umar Dange, a former secretary of APC elders committee in Sokoto, who was appointed to the board of FMC Ibute Meta.

The announcement of the chairmanship and membership of the Boards was made by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha. Mr. Utov, the proprietor of Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko, died on March 17. Going ahead with these appointments would neither advance due process nor Buhari's oft-expressed commitment to prevent and combat corruption.

The statement read in part: "Withdrawing the appointments and directing and allowing the civil service systems to follow due process to reappoint chairpersons and members to the boards of these agencies and parastatals would bring the government's practices and operations into conformity with Nigeria's worldwide anticorruption obligations, particularly the UN Convention against Corruption". The constitution of the boards with the appointments, is a demonstration of this Government's efforts aimed at building strong institutions of Governance, and by extension, improving the quality of Policy formulation and supervision.

Another person from Kano and close confidant of Abubakar, Murtala Adhama, was also appointed into the board of Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority. "The government is equally obligated to establish systems to prevent conflicts of interest and influence peddling in board appointments".
