Google's Year in Search 2017: Bahubali 2 was India's top trend

Google's 2017 trend lists are based on search terms that had a high spike in traffic in 2017 as compared to 2016.

Late South African actor and singer Dumi Masilela has topped the 2017's biggest Google searches in South Africa. The most popular searches overall of 2017 are Hurricane Irma, iPhone X, Matt Lauer, and Meghan Markle. "What is Bitcoin" was also fourth on the list of most searched for "What is" questions. The storm killed dozens of people.

The second top search was for former "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer, who was sacked from NBC last month for a complaint about inappropriate sexual behavior.

Topping that list were: Hurricane Irma, Matt Lauer, Tom Petty, Super Bowl and Las Vegas shooting.

Magnitude 6.2 quake hits southeastern Iran
It was not immediately known if the quake had caused any damage, injuries or fatalities as it struck during the night. A 6.2-magnitude natural disaster has hit Kerman Province in southeast Iran , state media has reported.

Other people on the top global list include Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Gal Gadot and Melania Trump.

And surprisingly, the making of slime was the most searched for How to. question. The most searched television shows included "13 Reasons Why", "Game of Thrones" and "This Is Us". Other searches in the "Consumer Tech" section were Nintendo Switch, Samsung Galaxy S8, Xbox One X, Nokia 3310, Razer Phone, Oppo F5, OnePlus 5 and Nokia 6.

Here in the USA, the top overall searches cover a pretty wide range of the human experience, running the gamut from natural phenomenon, to sports, to human tragedy, to the sexual misconduct allegations that have been echoing across a wide range of industries in recent months.
