Winter Weather Advisory in effect, below average temps for workweek

Western Pennsylvania's first widespread snow event is expected on Tuesday with most seeing minor road issues during the morning commute. Lesser amounts, around 5 inches, are in the forecast for the Southtowns and Genesee county.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy; high near 38 degrees. Tuesday will see more flurries during the day as well as at night. In addition to the heavy snow, the wind will pick up with the arrival of an arctic air mass blowing and drifting the snow in addition to producing bitter cold wind chills falling below zero by early on Wednesday. Plan on hard travel conditions, including during the morning and evening commute on Tuesday.

Tired shovelers in Buffalo and Watertown should get a break with this round, however, as winds out of the northwest set up over the region, and steer the heaviest snow further south than the weekend's event.
