Microsoft unveiled the new PCs, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset using ARM architecture at an event in Hawaii today. As CNBC notes, Microsoft's partnership with Qualcomm stands out, as the tech giant typically gets its chips from Intel and AMD.

But if PCs running on ARM processors wasn't enough of a shot at Intel, AMD took to the stage next, announcing its own partnership with Qualcomm. However, connectivity on the NovaGo includes 2x USB 3.1 Type-A ports, as well as an HDMI Port and Micro-SD card slot for memory expansion allowing for more options than the HP Envy x2. "The 12.3" WUXGA touchscreen display features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for increased durability and scratch resistance, and it is also compatible with an active pen. The device runs Windows 10 S out of the box, you will however able to upgrade to Windows 10 Pro.

As a result, first impressions from the new devices aren't hugely different from any other Windows 10 device.

Built upon the Snapdragon 835 SoC, the Envy x2 will be available in configurations featuring up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage. We already had a chance to check the Envy x2 out - check out our hands-on here.

The NovaGo will have a 4X4 MIMO antenna array for high-speed, Gigabit-class 4G connectivity and will have up to 256GB of UFS 2.0 storage and 8GB of RAM.

Qualcomm's future of the always-connected PC will see true all-day battery life, totally new designs of machines, and an operating system that boasts over 600 million users: Windows 10.

Frost didn't provide as many hardware specs as Asus' CEO did, but the he did have some details about the Envy x2's form factor.

HP promises an "impossibly thin" but "incredibly durable" deisgn that packs up to 20 hours of battery life and is powered by the same Snapdragon 835 processor and Snapdragon X16 LTE modem for that always-connected goodness.

Qualcomm reserved about 10 minutes to the unveiling of its new Snapdragon 845 chipset at the Tech Summit that kicked off early today. We haven't been told for sure that this element will come to the United Kingdom models, so stay tuned for an update.
