Honor View 10 hands-on preview: Flagship killer killer?

Chinese telecom giant Huawei's sub-brand Honor is all set to globally launch View 10 smartphone on January 8 next year including in India for 499 euros, the company's Global President George Zhao revealed here on Tuesday.

The Honor 7X is now officially launching in the United States, and it costs only $199.99. Xiaomi Mi A1 and Moto G5S Plus, for one pose a tough competition against the Honor 7X.

And with the View 10 already confirmed for a USA launch, this could be the device to reverse Honor's fortunes stateside, following the flop of last year's Honor 8. The phone will be available starting December 7th at 12PM and Honor India Store.

Honor View 10 marks the beginning of a new AI era, enabling a productive, entertaining and fun lifestyle for users. It will be available in two colour variants - Aurora Blue and Midnight Black for $199.

Also announced was Point Cloud 3D camera, which will allow depth in face ID and rendering for 3D printing.

Honor 7x comes in two options, the entry-level model with 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 32 GB onboard flash storage and a high-end 4 GB LPDDR3 RAM and 64 GB onboard flash storage.

You'll also get the blazing fast Kirin 970 chipset with Huawei's Neural Processing Unit, 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The memory is expandable up to 256GB via microSD. The phone comes with a 3340mAh battery.

On the camera side of things, the Honor 7X features a 16 MP + 2 MP camera setup at the rear, while the 8 MP front-facing sensor gets a software-based portrait mode as it skips on the second camera that is available on the Honor 9i.

The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back.

It looks like a neat package, and despite it's affordable price, Honor have always impressed us with its build quality.

Billed as the world's first AI (Artificial Intelligence) smartphone, the Honor V10 boasts a 5.99 inch screen and also has an 18:9 shaped display, giving a wider view.

Regarding performance, the Honor 7X packs in Huawei's mid-range Kirin 659 octa-core SoC that houses eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores.

On board is a 20MP and 16MP dual lens rear camera with intelligent scene recognition features for different scenarios (including dog, cat, sky, food, flower, moon and beach modes). There is NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. While the Honor 7X is fueled by a 3,340mAh battery, the Xiaomi Mi A1 comes with a 3,080mAh battery, whereas the Moto G5S Plus comes with a 3,000mAh one.
