Even though she's finally moved into the White House-she was the first First Lady to delay doing so, waiting five months after her husband's inauguration-Melania doesn't seem to have any more presence there than she did when she was back in NY.

A statement from the FLOTUS' spokesperson wrote that VF's story is riddled with unnamed sources and false assertions. "She didn't want this come hell or high water", a longtime friend of the Trumps told Vanity Fair.

If it isn't a role she coveted, Melania's urging that her husband decide once and for all whether to run for president in 2014 helped get her there.

Typically, the first lady welcomes the tree on the Friday after Thanksgiving, but the first family will be leaving Washington early to spend the Thanksgiving holiday in President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. "I don't think she was ever too insane about it".

"I don't envy him", she continued.

"She said, 'It's not my thing".

It's clear a lot of effort went into the decorations, and with good reason: The Office of the First Lady estimates the White House will host 100 open houses and receptions in December, and expects that "more than 25,000 visitors will walk the halls taking part in public tours".

She took months before moving to Washington from the Trump Tower penthouse she shared with her husband.

The self-proclaimed "first Trump lady" is not letting her feud with the First Lady of the United States die.

But Melania Trump is at least more popular than her husband, with 44 percent of respondents in a recent CNN poll holding a favorable view of her versus his approval rating of 41 percent.

A great deal else about Melania Trump's tenure so far as First Lady remains secretive, the Vanity Fair report said.
