Shah's attack comes in the wake of Rahul Gandhi's tweet in which he used a photograph of an old man Nand Lal to attack demonetisation.

In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has named former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate and the Congress is banking upon incumbent Virbhadra Singh, who is facing court cases over corruption charges.

Nand Lal, a former Army man, had become the face of demonetisation past year when an image showed him in tears with folded hands while he stood in a long queue to withdraw his money.

He said Congressmen were happily tweeting photos of Karnataka Minister D.K. Shivkumar standing in a queue and withdrawing money from an ATM in the state.

The BJP President alleged that Rahul Gandhi was unable to digest Narendra Modi's ever-rising popularity. "Gurugram's Nand Lal has exposed Rahul Gandhi's lies".

"The Congress dirty tricks department is in hyperactive mode".

In his interaction with industry representatives, Gandhi assured them that if Congress was voted to power he will make structural changes to the GST.
