Putin visits Iran, praises joint efforts in solving regional issues

Russian President Vladimir Putin urged the global community to rally in support of the Iranian nuclear accord after talks with leaders of the Islamic Republic, following President Donald Trump's move away from the multinational pact. "It shows the determination of Tehran and Moscow to deepen their strategic alliance., which will shape the future of the Middle East", an Iranian official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Putin is visiting Iran to attend the tripartite summit of Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan. Putin arrived in Iran for trilateral talks with Tehran and Azerbaijan.

Moscow has stood by Tehran as well while Trump has refused to re-certify the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers including Russian Federation.

"Moscow sees no limit to development of cooperation with Tehran", he said.

"We are managing to coordinate our positions on the Syrian issue", Putin said. Trump has threatened to pull out of the nuclear deal, unless its alleged flaws, including what he calls its failure to contain Iran's missile and regional activities, are removed.

Russian Federation has rejected Trump's demand to renegotiate the agreement to curb Iran's ballistic missile program.

The president pointed out that Iran and Russian Federation have contributed to not only fighting terrorism in Syria, but have been successfully involved in a peaceful negotiations process to solve the crisis, having paved the way for political settlement in the war-torn country. Putin also held a separate meeting with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The corridor, serving as a bridge to connect the railroads of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russian Federation, is to provide faster and more efficient trade connectivity between Europe and Southeast Asia.

Presidents also discussed in the meeting.

Vladimir Putin, Hassan Rouhani and Ilham Aliyev are speaking before the press after trilateral talks in the Iranian capital on Wednesday.

On the sidelines of the Tehran summit, Iranian and Russian officials signed six memorandums of understanding on improving collaboration in the field of oil and gas.
