Kanpur ODI: Kiwis elect to bowl in series-decider

Rohit, who was adjudged Man of the Match, was not in a good touch in the previous matches but in the third match, played to his potential and slammed a beautifully crafted ton which helped India beat the visitors by six runs.

Tom Latham and Ross Taylor, who had won the first ODI for New Zealand with a stand of 200 before India levelled the series in the second, put on 79 and Latham added another 59 with Henry Nicholls to leave 32 needed from 19 balls. They were ideal with the throws back in to the keeper.

New Zealand were 63 for two chasing 270 in the 15th over - but 16 runs, eight wickets and 51 balls later, the match was complete. Spinners Yuzvendra Chahal, Patel and Yadav along side all-rounder Pandya will look to apply breaks on the Kiwis batting in the middle overs.

New Zealand were firm favourites when they needed 35 runs in the final four overs but then Bhuvneshwar and Bumrah combined all over again and not only kept the runs down but kept picking up wickets to ensure New Zealand finished six runs adrift of the target.
