The code name for these products had been Raven Ridge, but now they are officially AMD Ryzen mobile processors. AMD's new Ryzen chips have managed to at least offer a credible challenge to Intel's dominance in nearly every facet of the desktop PC world, from high-end, multi-core processors like the Threadripper line to the budget Ryzen 3.

Although the chips haven't be tested by outside benchmarkers yet, AMD said that for thin laptop designs, its new mobile chips were 44% faster than competing chips at tasks using multiple CPU cores and 161% faster at graphics processing.

AMD says that the new Ryzen laptop processors promise over 200 percent more CPU performance compared to its previous generation of laptop processors and up to 128 percent improved graphics performance.

Both processors are 15W chips and offer four cores and eight threads.

AMD's Ryzen and Threadripper processors re-established AMD's chips as competitive with Intel's. We see the exact same core and thread count in the Ryzen 5 2500U, only with a max clock speed of 3.6GHz instead of 3.8.

VVVVVV's Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced; New Trailer Released
Red Bull Games got to interview the developer and, interestingly, Golf Story was originally meant to be on the Wii U . Sidebar Games also revealed that Nintendo was very helpful in bringing their game to the Switch platform.

The two APUs unveiled today are initially intended for a small range of ultra-thin, ultra-portable laptops and two-in-one devices from Acer, HP and Lenovo that will be available within weeks.

While Intel's 8th Gen Core i7-8550U might have a slight edge over the Ryzen 7 2700U in Cinebench R15's single-threaded test with scores of 159 and 144 respectively, the multi-threaded test gives AMD a significant advantage, with a huge lead of 719 points compared to 498. Up to 2400 MHz DDR4 RAM is supported in a dual channel configuration, although some OEMs may resort to running only a single channel.

For AMD, however, the Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 use the latest versions of both its CPU and GPU architectures, including a couple of new tricks that haven't yet made their way into the desktop versions. On the GPU side, the 2500U offers eight Radeon Vega compute units (CUs) and is clocked at up to 1100MHz, while the 2700U offers 10 Vega CUs clocked at up to 1300MHz.

Of course, none of this actually matters unless AMD can get its chips into the hands of consumers. Nevertheless, it was only last night that AMD has finally revealed the full specifications of its Ryzen Mobile chips.
