The head of Amazon Studios, Roy Price, has resigned from the streaming company he started following claims he had dismissed the allegations that Harvey Weinstein had raped the actor Rose McGowan. The resignation also comes shortly after The Wall Street Journal published a critical piece about Price's tenure at Amazon.

Amazon Studios picked up three Oscars this year under Price's helm, though its failure to show at the Emmy Awards last month was seen by many in Hollywood as a setback.

Price's fiancée, Lila Feinberg, called off their November wedding on Sunday.

Albert Cheng has been named to run Amazon Studios on an interim basis.

Price was suspended from the company five days ago following an accusation from an executive producer that Price sexually harassed her during San Diego Comic-Con in 2015.
