Tennis world number one Rafael Nadal lifted his sixth title this year after easing past Nick Kyrgios 6-2 6-1 in the final of the China Open in Beijing on Sunday.

Controversial tennis star Nick Kyrgios is adamant he has found his objective in the wake of his straight sets loss to Rafael Nadal in the China Open final.

Rafael Nadal was delighted to end a 12-year wait to win the China Open, after a ruthless win over Nick Kyrgios.

Nadal defeated Kyrgios 6-2, 6-1 in what turned out to be a one-sided summit clash in Beijing.

"I had very tough draw here", Nadal, who saved match points in his opening round against Frenchman Lucas Pouille, said.

The 15th-ranked Garcia, who lost to Halep the two previous times they played, won her second consecutive WTA title.

The mayor of Puerto Rico's capital, San Juan, described Donald Trump's visit to the hurricane-hit island as "insulting". Later in the day the USA territory's governor increased the official death toll from the storm from 16 to 34.

"Of course, it is a very important achievement for me to continue with the positive feelings after winning the US Open".

"I was lucky the first day saving the two match points but after that I think I played one of my best events of the year".

Having then been angered by a line call the Australian proceeded to complain to the umpire which eventually cost him a penalty point at the start of the eighth game. Nadal dug in and improbably reeled off nine straight games to lead 6-2, 5-0 before Kyrgios tallied a moral victory by preventing the first 0-6 set of his ATP career. Let's see. This year I am playing well.

Now sits in 19th position in the world rankings, Kyrgios is still striving for the ATP Finals in London, which is only open to the world top eight players. "People will have their own opinions on how the final went down but, for the most part, I was satisfied with the week and happy to qualify for my second final of 2017".

Nadal, victor of the French Open and U.S. Open titles this year, has won six tournaments in a season for the first time since 2013 and strengthens his position at the top of the rankings ahead of Roger Federer.
