Epic Accidentally Allows Xbox And PS4 Cross-Play On Fortnite, Disables It

This generation of consoles has left little to fight over with numerous gaming audience deciding on platform choice by loyalty, variety of exclusives or the platform that their friends are playing on - so why don't PlayStation and Microsoft play nicely and let us all play together via cross-platform?

The possibility of cross-play continues to intrigue gamers who're often segregated by their choice of Microsoft or Sony consoles.

In an email Epic said: "We had a configuration issue and it has now been corrected".

Despite the fact that the implementation of cross-play has proved to be accidental, this is just one more piece of evidence that it's easily feasible.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Sony head of global sales and marketing Jim Ryan described Sony's stance against cross-console play as "a commercial discussion between ourselves and our stakeholders" and "not a profound philosophical stance". Or is the wise play to keep the two factions segregated?
