The members of the global olympic Committee have voted in favour of the attribution of the olympic Games in 2024 in Paris, this Wednesday evening in Lima.

The agreement locks in Los Angeles as host city nearly 11 years ahead of the Games Opening Ceremony, the longest time allotted to an organizing committee in history. IOC President Thomas Bach eventually had to make the decision to award 2024 and 2028 simultaneously.

The successful bid will be announced an unprecedented 11 years before the actual Olympics are to take place. In 1921, the IOC awarded the 1924 Games to Paris and the 1928 Olympics to Amsterdam, according to Olympic historian Bill Mallon. Initially agreed to over the summer, the three-way deal followed an exodus of other bidders for the 2024 games, reported Ben Bergen, of member station KPCC, in June.

"For the first time in a generation, the Olympics are coming back to the United States, and I am proud to support LA 2028", he said.

If people blame me for this, no problem, but it was a decision taken for the season. Garcia said, " I think for Jurgen this has to be the season ".

The IOC subsequently made a decision to award the 2024 and 2028 Games at the same time, but the two cities had to decide which would go first. "Now L.A. 2028 has a golden opportunity, with four more years to prepare and a $2 billion contribution from the International Olympic Committee, to redefine how hosting the Games can benefit host communities".

"These are two great cities from two great countries with a great Olympic history". It's the third time each city will host the Olympics.

The U.S. ends its longest drought between hosting an Olympics since the 28-year gap between 1932 and 1960. Only $33.6 million is listed in Los Angeles' budget for Olympic Village costs. Numerous plans for 2028 are the same as they would have been if they were awarded for 2024. "Well, what you see onstage here today reflects who we are, and the unique brand of California-cool that we will bring to the 2028 Games". The most recent being the 1992 Games in Albertville.

"This is the moment Angelenos have been waiting for since we began our work to bring the Games back to Los Angeles, " L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said over the weekend before leaving for Peru.
