Suspect arrested following active shooter situation at OH high school

Police did not say whether the suspect was a student.

A law enforcement source close to the investigation said the incident stemmed from a gang-related conflict.

Police said they were called to the high school, which is a few miles south of downtown Columbus, at about 8:33 a.m. (1233 GMT) and arrested the suspect just before 9:00 a.m.(1300 GMT).

An Ohio SWAT team arrested one person and confiscated a gun after an "active shooter" was reported at a Columbus high school on Friday morning. Other charges could be forthcoming, it added.

Jacobs said the building was cleared and they're investigating if any shots were fired at all.

"We couldn't be happier with the outcome of this", police spokeswoman Denise Alex-Bouzounis said.

No one was injured during the incident, police said.

"Schools are supposed to be a safe place and we need to make sure that they are always safe for all of our students, are staff members, our teachers and the general public".

A message was left for a Columbus schools representative.

The school describes itself as created to serve "emotionally disturbed" students in grades 6-12.

A preliminary hearing for Abdullahi is scheduled for September 18 at 9 a.m.
