Google Assistant will make its way to more third party speakers, appliances

And in the coming weeks and months, the smart voice assistant will be ready on more smart home devices and speakers. These speakers will be coming out later this year and while availability may differ by device, most will be available in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Germany and France.

From the ongoing IFA event in Berlin, we learn that the Google Assistant will soon be integrating into a large number of products that might just wind up in our homes. Ask any questions you may have, or utilize any of the other Assistant features available across any of the Assistant-enabled devices in your home.

The announcements were made ahead of of IFA, an global consumer electronics show to take place September 1-6 in Berlin. With the move Google is more aggressively competing with Amazon's Alexa and Microsoft's Cortana for third party hardware and software integration.

The voice assistant from Google's Home smart speaker has been unleashed in third-party devices, with the launch of a new product from Panasonic that promises better sound quality.

Google Assistant's multi-room audio function means users can further combine it with Chromecast Audio or Chromecast integrated speakers, allowing music lovers to sync and control music playback through an array of speakers simultaneously. Virtual assistants are essentially modern day "genies" that get things done for you without ever uttering the typical "your wish is my command, master" catchphrase. It will be up for sale in two colour variants - Black and White. With the Assistant on board, you'll be able to tell the assistant to start vacuuming or washing a load of clothes. The $70 speaker looks like a miniaturized version of Google Home, with a set of touch-sensitive controls at the top.

As exciting, Google says that device types that will work with Google Assistant.

The idea of controlling appliances with a voice assistant isn't new, but it's starting to become more popular.

Google is also now making it possible to use "Assistant" to check on the state of your laundry or dishes, using an integration with LG's line of home appliances.
