Sandra Bullock donates $1M toward Harvey relief efforts

Actress Sandra Bullock is donating $1 million to the American Red Cross to aid relief efforts following Hurricane Harvey's unprecedented devastation along the Gulf coast.

"We are devastated to witness the hardship and suffering endured by so many in and around Houston, Corpus Christi and southeast Texas", said NRG CEO Mauricio Gutierrez.

Bullock joins a long list of celebs who are pitching in to help those affected by catastrophic flooding caused by the most rainfall ever recorded from a tropical storm or hurricane in the lower 48 states. "It's been a tragic weekend, and unfortunately, the worst is yet to come". "Our Disaster Program Manager Linda Ehrsam and Disaster Program Specialist Ari Denson have deployed to Texas along with a number of other volunteers from our area to assist with the already massive and growing needs of those affected by Harvey".

After five consecutive days of rain, Harvey set a new continental US record for rainfall for a tropical system. As of early Wednesday morning, 19 people were confirmed dead as a result of the storm.

Your donation will go towards providing food, shelter, relief supplies, emotional support and recovery planning for the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
