Faced with bipartisan opposition in the US Congress against his proposed wall on the border with Mexico, President Donald Trump has once again raised the specter of a government shutdown in case he doesn't get the required funding.

In 2005, the Mexican government sent convoys of troops and emergency supplies to Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, CBS reported at the time.

In a moment that could have seen global camaraderie, Trump instead chose to continue his trend of sowing conflict and animosity.

Trump was at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland. In 2016, the state went for Trump - and his harsh anti-Mexican rhetoric - giving the president 52.2 percent of the vote.

Joel Trachtman, professor of global law at Tufts University's Fletcher School, said eliminating NAFTA would introduce tariffs on products like cheap Mexican steel and make American-made steel more competitive, but could also cut demand for USA -grown corn that's seen exports to Mexico skyrocket under NAFTA.

"With Mexico being one of the highest crime Nations in the world, we must have THE WALL", Trump tweeted.

TRUMP: Yes, it will.

Apple reportedly holding iPhone event on September 12th
This buyback authorization allows the iPhone maker to purchase up to 6.5% of its shares through open market purchases. An Apple Watch 3 with LTE could be in the works and this means users won't be dependent on the iPhone anymore.

The next round is going to be starting on the first of September in Mexico. "Mexico will pay for it through reimbursement or other".

Eric Farnsworth: The President´s renewed tweeting about NAFTA threatens to upend negotiations that began in Washington on August 16. Shortly before writing that he was "going to a cabinet meeting (tele-conference)... on #Harvey", he tweeted that it was the "worst trade deal ever made" and added: "May have to terminate?"

Donald Trump added that Canada and Mexico were very uncompromising. "If we have to shut down that government, we're building that wall", he told supporters in Phoenix, Arizona, last week.

"Next Friday there is the possibility that we find an impasse, the possibility that this does not advance, we can't rule that out", he said. This happened over the last three to four years, in particular. "The wall will stop much of the drugs from pouring into this country and poisoning our youth", according to him. The trade deal, Trump charged, had caused the loss of U.S.jobs to Mexico and the closure of manufacturing plants in the United States.

But while the president was busy ratcheting up tensions with America's neighbor to the south, Mexico was offering aid to the victims of the deadly hurricane, which has claimed five lives and necessitated at least 2,000 emergency rescues thus far.

But even our own Drug Enforcement Administration says that most drugs come via "vehicles or tractor trailers by using legal ports of entry".

He said that it's been a one-sided deal in favor of Mexico and Canada.
