Orlando reportedly a possible option for BYU-LSU game

In a statement released last Saturday, LSU officials stated that the game now "remains as scheduled" but that they are monitoring the situation.

NOLA.com reports game organizers reached out to several stadiums across the southeast about hosting the game.

But there could be others. Ultimately, the decision will fall on officials at ESPN who own the rights to the AdvoCare Texas kickoff. BYU does not allow its athletic teams to play on Sundays, per university policy in accordance with the Church of Latter Day Saints. Both stadiums are managed by Philadelphia-based arena management company, SMG.

That firm's vice president, Doug Thornton, said in a statement Sunday that he had let it be known to the parties that the Superdome would be available if needed.

Sunday night, LSU said it was "almost certain" the game won't be played at the location.

He said on Monday he'd like to see the proceeds from Thursday's preseason game be donated to the victims of the hurricane. "We just need some prior notice.by the end of Tuesday would be fine", he said.

The venue for Saturday's LSU-BYU game in Houston is still up in the air after flooding from Hurricane Harvey over the weekend. LSU did not learn until Wednesday before the game that it would host the Gamecocks rather than travel to Columbia. S.C.

The game was scheduled to take place at NRG Stadium in Houston Saturday at 9:30 ET, but the city like much of the southeastern part of the state is still dealing with the devastating impact from the Category 4 hurricane which made landfall Friday.
