38-year-old Brook Lynn Crews and 32-year-old William Henry Hoehn, are in the Cass County jail on suspicion of conspiracy to commit kidnapping charges after being arrested Thursday at separate locations. Both live in the same apartment building as missing woman Savannah Greywind, 22.

Hoehn and Crews were arrested for Class A Felony Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping.

A subsequent search of the apartment turned up nothing, but officers returned for a third search after uncovering additional information, Todd said.

But on Thursday, the case took a chilling turn when, according to report by WDAZ-TV News in Grand Forks, North Dakota, police cordoned off and evacuated the apartment building where Greywind was last seen - and removed a 2-day-old infant.

Hoehn had previously pled guilty in 2012 to fracturing his infant son's skull, WDAY-6 reported. The missing woman reportedly went to her neighbor's apartment to help sew, but it's unclear what happened to her after that.

Two other residents of the apartment building said that they heard unusual noises coming from a neighbor's bathroom on the night that Greywind vanished.

Todd said it is possible LaFontaine-Greywind, who was pregnant at the time she disappeared, is not in the area, but he did not elaborate.

Police say they are treating the search for Savanna Greywind as a criminal investigation.

Police conducted three separate "strictly visual searches" of the apartment after Greywind was reported missing, Todd said. She said she's never met LaFontaine-Greywind. Her feet were swollen so she wouldn't have taken up walking like that.

The Duluth News-Tribune reports the father of the child is Ashton Matheny, Greywind's boyfriend of six years.

Greywind's mother Norberta LaFontaine-Greywind told local media Greywind wouldn't simply disappear, as she left behind her vehicle and her wallet, and had just ordered pizza. They had picked the name Haisley Jo. "They said it's healthy, but they're running more tests", he said.

The couple was about to move into an apartment together.

Todd also said that two people were now being held for questioning in relation to the case.

"I don't comprehend why she would leave without her wallet, her auto scratches, her auto", Matheny said. He said he could then hear the shower running.

Authorities have been searching the area and the extended neighborhood for any sign of Greywind, using K9s, watercrafts and helicopters.
