Android 8 Oreo has Finally been Announced by Google!

Android 8.0 is the first release of the Oreo series and there will be more improvements in Oreo's life cycle in form of Android 8.1.1 and so on. Not that it matters: With smartphone buyers replacing their devices every year or two, Android fragmentation has moved from a complete non-issue to being an urban legend at this point. Luckily, we have a current list of phones to get Android O. Hopefully more manufacturers will make announcements in the coming days and weeks. Moreover, the Android 8.0 Oreo was confirmed to be flashed onto: Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel (TMO, Sprint, Project Fi, Telstra, Rogers, USCC), Pixel XL (TMO, Sprint, Project Fi, Telstra, Rogers, USCC), Pixel and Pixel XL (other carriers). If Google will follow the same timeline, the first Android 8.0 Oreo upgrades will arrive by the end of September.

Google has also published a list that includes all the HMD Global-backed devices, which will be receiving the update. But it is confirmed that these smartphones of OnePlus will get the Android 8 update.

We've been hearing a lot about Android Oreo over the past several months, but like any new piece of software we won't hear about some of the finer details until it gets released. Basically, Oreo uses machine learning to figure out stuff like phone numbers, email addresses, etc.

Over on Twitter, HTC USA announced that it is bringing Android Oreo to the HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 phone owners not only in Taiwan and the United States but all over the world where the devices are available. LG G6 is the other flagship from the company that should get the Oreo update soon after. Essentially they'll need to declare upfront that they could request permission to be able to install apps from Android's Package Installer.
