Reporter Kim Wall died in accident on submarine, inventor tells police

Madsen, 47, was arrested on preliminary manslaughter charges, which Reuters reported he denies.

The court case is being conducted behind closed doors, but Madsen's explanation was released at the request of both defense and prosecution attorneys.

Copenhagen police spokesman Jens Moller said: "It is clear that the police, like the media and everybody else, is speculating whether this female body is Kim Wall, but it is way too soon to tell".

Kim Wall, a 30-year-old journalist reported to be aboard Madsen's submarine UC3 Nautilus on an assignment, disappeared more than a week ago.

A Danish inventor has told police that a reporter declared missing after visiting his submarine died in an accident at sea.

Madsen was arrested after he initially told police he dropped Wall off in Copenhagen after the submarine ride, but police said they found discrepancies in his story.

Madsen and Wall were sighted onboard the vessel by several people in waters off Copenhagen the evening of August 10.

A DANISH Inventor has sensationally claimed a Swedish journalist died in a mysterious "accident" on his submarine and that he dumped her body overboard.

Police have said they believe Madsen deliberately sank the sub, which was refloated and searched, and found to be empty.

Madsen is a household name in Scandinavia after building the submarine in 2008 and then attempting invent and construct a manned spacecraft.

Madsen was rescued alone shortly afterwards, and the submarine suddenly sank.

The sunken submarine was located by the emergency services on August 11, according to local media, but Wall's body remained unfound.
