Video recorded from a camera in a SC police officer's glasses shows him getting shot four times past year as he tells a dispatcher, "tell my family that I love them". Smith walked toward Orr, who was seen defying the officer's orders to stop.

At that point, the video shows Orr quickly drawing a 9mm handgun and firing multiple times - even as he kept the cellphone to his ear with his other hand.

WJCL reported that Smith's neck and arm injuries have almost fully healed, and his physical therapy is nearly complete. Smith located the suspect shortly after arriving on the scene and confronted the man.

"Shots fired!" Smith yells into his handheld radio, the high-definition image spinning as if the glasses were flung from the roof of a building. "I'm going to stay here with you man". "I can barely breathe", says the wounded officer. "He was just walking away, but unfortunately I made a mistake ... and he got the upper hand", the officer said.

"If but not for the grace of God and some very good doctors, this would not only have been a murder case, but a death penalty case", Stone said in a statement.
