"Starting today, we're really excited to offer Xbox One gamers the ability to choose their own unique soundtrack while enjoying their favorite games", said Mikael Ericsson the Product Director of Platform & Partner Experience at Spotify.

In terms of pricing, the Xbox One app will be exactly the same as on desktop; you'll be able to access Spotify's library for free so long as you're prepared to listen to adverts between tracks.

Rumors that Spotify would soon arrive on Xbox One started spreading last week when users spotted Microsoft's Larry Hyrb, aka Major Nelson, testing the app.

Like the PS4 version, Spotify Connect will allow users to control music playback through their phones, tablet or laptop.

Israel minister says he wants to revoke Al Jazeera's press cards
Israel plans to ban the Al Jazeera news network from operating in the country over accusations it is "a supporter of terror". Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has likened its coverage to "Nazi Germany-style" propaganda.

Play music in the background while gaming. For example, players looking for a high-octane session can load up the Power Gaming playlist and stream mid-game.

Microsoft Corporate Vice President Mike Ybarra said about the updated dashboard, "This release is the next major update for gaming on Xbox One, and is created to make the Xbox gaming experience more fun, personalized, and social than ever".

Visually, the Xbox Spotify app looks to be pretty much the same as the PS4 version, and that's no bad thing. Spotify and Xbox One are both known quantities, so this is largely a case of "two great tastes taste great together (finally)". Changes will also be visible in the game hubs, profiles and clubs, making it easier to navigate and follow. Switching between tabs (new tabs are being added as well for People, Home and recent messages, broadcasts and captures, and a new action center [including settings]) is way faster and the same goes for moving between apps.
