Microsoft Paint Is 'Here to Stay,' Despite What You May Have Heard

As the title would suggest, it has a renewed focus on creativity tools, with Paint 3D, Mixed Reality and a new "Fluent Design" being introduced in an effort to entice content creators away from their traditional Mac-shaped homes.

Such a move seems logical though given that Microsoft has already introduced the Paint 3D app early this year and is created to come across as a more modern replacement of the Paint. The company says the trusty old MS Paint is here to live and that its intentions were misunderstood.

Microsoft posted in a blog update that original art app isn't going anywhere. MS Paint is being removed from the operating system, but will still be available for people to download. The software may have been simple in its offerings but features such as the ability to adjust imagery pixel-by-pixel, have been a major draw for professional artists and amateurs alike.

Now Microsoft has announced that, alongside Outlook Express, Reader app and Reading list, Microsoft Paint has been signaled for death having been added to the "features that are removed or deprecated in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update" list.

That means you can't install it by default with Windows. MS Paint will no longer be a part of Windows 10 and will spend its last years in Windows Store for free. Twitter users commiserated by sharing MS Paint-drawn obituaries.

The Windows 10 Creators Update is set to launch this Autumn, and could be released as early as September. The company unveiled the drawing app a year ago. Paint 3D features the ability to create 3D images, but it also retains numerous 2D functionalities that are in its predecessor. "It's been incredible to see so much love for our trusty old app". It removed its 3D Builder app for the fall update and encouraged users to use Paint 3D instead.
